What's a display name?

Let's review real quick: with language, human beings use words as symbols to communicate ideas. With that in mind, we ask you to choose what's known as a "display name" for us to refer to you by, instead of some kind of retarded hand gesture or something. Click here to learn what's acceptable. Also, you can change or edit your display name any time you want on your profile page.

What is my URL?

This is the address of your Super Deluxe profile page on the World Wide Interwebs that you can give to friends to link them directly to your Super Deluxe Profile. This is an example (but not the real deal) of how it looks:

http://www.superdeluxe.com/sd/people/your_display_name_here

When you register, you can change the display name part, as long as it's 4 to 24 characters long. But once you complete registration, that's it--you can't mess with your URL ever again. Also, any spaces you use will be converted to underscores (_). No special characters (@#$%^&) are allowed, and neither is lewd language.

Want to change the graphical image that represents you?

Makeover time!! Your avatar is the image you choose to accompany your display name. But you may get sick of it. So, just click on the "Change Avatar" link, select a new one, and submit it. You'll see a whole new you blossom right before you.

What's "About me?"

Yeah, what about you?! We'd like to know, too. Let's put it this way: if your tagline is the mascot, then your "About Me" paragraph is the entire effin' curling team. It's where you're encouraged to divulge all the heart-wrenching facts and shameless fictions about your favorite subject: you. Just remember: everybody on Super Deluxe is able to read your "About Me" paragraph, and you can edit it on your profile page.

What does "Add a contact" mean?

"Contact" is just a fancy website term for friend. You ever make a friend before? Well, making one on Super Deluxe is much easier than in real life. Simply visit the profile of another member, artist, or advertiser, and click "Add As Contact." Viola! They're your newest contact. The relationship is one-way unless they also decide to add you. To break-up with them, just click on the "Remove Contact" button next to their image on your Contacts page.

Elsewhere? Huh?

Look, we know we ain't the only squid in your basket. Nor do we believe we're the only jar of mayonnaise you keep in your bathtub. Similarly, we are well aware that we're not the only website you frequent. And we're o.k. with that. In fact, we want to know about all the other places you can be found on the internet. That's what the "Elsewhere" section is for. You can display up to five links to other sites where you be all the time. Simply input what you'd like to call your site, like "My Blog" and a valid URL, like "http://www.example.com" (but without the quotation marks), and hit Save. Feel free to edit these whenever the wind blows.

What's a tagline?

It's that one pithy sentence fragment that completely sums up your entire existence on this planet heretofore. Something like, "Just Another Food Tube." You can change or edit your tagline anytime you want on your profile page. Just make it good because the entire Super Deluxe community will be able to see it.

What's up with this Uploads thing?

Like our proud founders once said, "One day, if every member could upload at least one funny video to Super Deluxe, then we feel we'll have done our part to drop our very own massive load all over the internet."

And we still believe that today. That's why we encourage each and every one of you to upload any and all funny videos that you've made. They'll appear on your profile pages, but if they're really good, we may even promote them on the site. So, make sure you title, tag and describe your videos well so that they'll show up more often in search results.

But make sure you don't upload anything you don't own, such as copyrighted material. We will remove the video, though repeat offenders might have their membership revoked. Check our Terms of Use for specifics, but the skinny is do not even think about uploading anything wantonly violent, explicit, or depraved, such as porn or anything else we may deem objectionable. Mature content is fine by us, as long as you flag it as such. Again, check those Terms of Use if you're unsure.
